With Irene looming, we had planned lots of reading, crafting and snacks for the weekend. Thankfully Irene didn't cause us any problems (I think we may have slept through the worst of it.) Not much of the crafting happened, but I did make this necklace to wear to a friend's upcoming wedding. It's pretty much a very long friendship bracelet with dyed and microbeaded wood beads.
Here are some new buddies who hid out from the storm in our backyard– they looked so cozy!

I did a post on The Martha Stewart Craft's Blog a while back for Mother's day– take a belated look!
Thanks Jodi!

I was asked to take part in the book, 'Push: stitchery' some months ago– it's a collection of embroiderers and stitchers gathered by Jamie Chalmers of Mr. X stitch. It will be on the shelves this September, but you can have a bit of a sneak peak over on Amazon!
Maybe you've noticed already, but YES that is a piece of mine on the cover!
Thanks Jamie!

Some of the cards I make while freelancing at Martha Stewart are featured on the Crafts Dept.'s blog today!
Thanks again, Jodi!

Here's one of my pillows finished and at home on the couch. I also got a chance to finish this shirt. I would have preferred to exclude the gather under the button placket, but I was a little to hasty in my measurements when I cut the fabric. This was the best solution I could come up with. It's made of super cozy flannel and I'm really pleased with it.

maybe with brownies or oatmeal cookies?

I've been feeling pretty domestic recently. I think it's this weather.

The first two of many…

Ilana and I have been getting together to tie dye nearly every week after being introduced to the Dharma Trading dyes. It's amazingly addictive. We've hardly had any time to make anything out of our fabric yet (and I imagine they'll be difficult to slice into) but I wanted to share the finished fabrics with you!

Our significant others got tie dyed tighty-whiteys out of the deal- unfortunately (or fortunately- what ever your taste may be) all the ones I made ended up looking like Zubaz.

p.s. I'm touched that my family name gets to grace this awesome dress! A million thanks to the designer!

Only 16 days til I marry my best friend!

A couple of Liberty of London ties for Jashar (who has to wear them daily now!)
Ilana directed me to the pattern on The Purl Bee. It was pretty wide- as you can see in the first tie, but it's easily enough to alter. William Morris' strawberry thief is my favorite Liberty print, but I'm delighted with the look of the other William Morris print too.

–Here's a bow tie pattern from BurdaStyle for those of you who swing that way.

Quilted pillows & the Renegade Craft fair

I have officially finished my first quilting project. I can't wait to make a couple more for myself! This one will be a surprise gift for a friend.
My favorite booth (Enhabiten/Forestbound) at the Renegade Craft Fair last weekend had some really amazing quilted pillows also. It's so strange how tastes change. Quilting wasn't even on my radar handful of years ago- but now it looks absolutely perfect to me.

...also, a cake face.

courthouse steps

I got the urge to stitch together a strip of my quilt the other day– I wasn't sure about the color palette of the blocks, but it looks pretty great put together! It's exciting to see the diamond shapes come out after looking at it in block form for so long. Many, many more blocks to go...

raglan sleeves

Here are a few new pieces I whipped together in the past couple of weeks. The ikat dress is my first attempt at a raglan sleeve. It still has a few neckline-related kinks to be worked out but I'm really happy with the shirt.

Also- exciting stuff happening over at ByIlana.

painting, sewing

I've been itching to push paint around recently. Jashar obliged to sit for for a portrait for about an hour. I'm just playing with acrylic on this so far, but I think I'm going to work some oils over it as soon as we both have free time.

Here's another shirt I pieced together! I can't wait to use this same pattern for a chambray dress. I can't decide if I like the pocket or not... it may have to come off.

sewing and knitting

Here's a new dress I just finished. It's a little chilly out for it yet, but I'm glad I finally used up this fabric. I also made this stash-buster scarf for Jashar. Many more yet to be made before my stash is fully busted!

Here's a dress I made a little while ago. It's 'V' from the 'Stylish Dress Book.' Unfortunately, I made it at least two sizes waaay too big (assuming I'd be a large in japanese sizing...) but I still love how it turned out! The shirting material is so cozy!

dye dye my darling

I enjoyed a bit of Shabd inspired tie dye last Thursday with Ilana and Morgan Elliott. Unfortunately, I didn't snap any 'during' photos, but here are the results of my dyeing. Now I just have to figure out what to make out of that massive piece of jersey!

o' tannenbaum

The x-mas decorations are up! I usually don't put anything much up in the apartment, but I just happened to acquire this perfect little tree. Morgan assembled it as part of our craft sale display.

I was lucky enough to take it home with me! Jashar and I made the paper garland and I finished up a couple more of my wooden snowflakes and the little wooden wreath.
Man is it nice not having to deal with strings of lights! I just wish I could find more of these little guys!

+++ Thanks to everyone who came out to the craft sales & Happy Holidays!

Divine Studios Craft Sale Sunday

For those of you who missed the Martha sale, you'll have a second chance to finish your holiday shopping this Sunday!
Many of the vendors from the Martha sale, along with some choice others, will have booths.
I'm whipping up some brand-new goodies to sell alongside our Martha Craft sale stock!
It's definitely worth checking out- (and much easier to get to!)

Also- check out the great photos Ilana took of our stuff here.

Martha Stewart Holiday Craft Sale Saturday

Here are just some of the gorgeous items Morgan will be selling on Saturday. The linen notebooks were a collaboration between the two of us. I will also be selling my wooden flowers and feathers, acorn ornaments, and prints!
