In light of the recent tragedy that befell the people of Haiti, gallery hanahou and the artists who are participating in "20/10 VISION" have decided to contribute 20% of all proceeds from this exhibition to disaster relief efforts in Haiti.

The opening this Thursday (1/21) will include a collaborative live drawing created by participating artists. It will be sold at silent auction, with 100% of the proceeds going to disaster relief efforts in Haiti. Please join us on Thursday and watch the piece take shape before your eyes!

I can't believe I haven't posted about these yet. These were what inspired me to experiment with applique and embroidery back in college. Sadly, I still don't have the book but thank goodness for google searches! Aren't the palettes incredible?

Unused bits and pieces from a stitching-- I'm kinda digging how it looks like a Stuart Davis.

I think I might be making this thing in the near future. Regardless of how well I set up my desks for stitching, I always end up working on the floor. Buy the original here at Design 'Within Reach' (not sure who's able to reach that price for a floor pillow) or go for the more sane option and make it yourself.

Handmade Nation in NY!

Handmade Nation, a documentary about the current craft movement directed by Faith Levine (who was kind enough to include me in one of her group shows), will be playing in NYC's MAD Museum Theater! Yesterday was the sold out premiere and Director's Panel. But the doc will be playing this weekend too! (sat & sun)

Recently I sold this giclee print of my latest Meatpaper stitching. It was printed on Iolab's archival Hahnemuhle Bamboo paper. Here it is signed, framed, and ready to be sent out to my lucky customer. All of the images on my site can be special ordered as prints if there are any you're particularly fond of.

+I recently sold my first item on ebay, which went swimmingly well. But now I'm compelled to photograph and price tag everything in the apartment... Does anyone know where I could find out what a Mae West "She Done Him Wrong" 33 would be worth?! (no idea how I acquired that one!)
+Went to see Soul of Shaolin with Jashar– for free! (one of the rare perks to a career in illustration) It was the first Broadway show I've seen since the ones I was dragged to on high school field trips– and it was way more enjoyable.
+best valentine's day gift ever– although pretty expensive for how kitschy it is. I'm a fan of Missed Tryst, 'a hard boiled, film-noir detective novel ... fashioned after the likes of gumshoe heroes Sam Spade & Phillip Marlowe' AND it's on sale!
