dye dye my darling

I enjoyed a bit of Shabd inspired tie dye last Thursday with Ilana and Morgan Elliott. Unfortunately, I didn't snap any 'during' photos, but here are the results of my dyeing. Now I just have to figure out what to make out of that massive piece of jersey!

o' tannenbaum

The x-mas decorations are up! I usually don't put anything much up in the apartment, but I just happened to acquire this perfect little tree. Morgan assembled it as part of our craft sale display.

I was lucky enough to take it home with me! Jashar and I made the paper garland and I finished up a couple more of my wooden snowflakes and the little wooden wreath.
Man is it nice not having to deal with strings of lights! I just wish I could find more of these little guys!

+++ Thanks to everyone who came out to the craft sales & Happy Holidays!

Divine Studios Craft Sale Sunday

For those of you who missed the Martha sale, you'll have a second chance to finish your holiday shopping this Sunday!
Many of the vendors from the Martha sale, along with some choice others, will have booths.
I'm whipping up some brand-new goodies to sell alongside our Martha Craft sale stock!
It's definitely worth checking out- (and much easier to get to!)

Also- check out the great photos Ilana took of our stuff here.

I finished this illustration a while back for Chris at McSweeney's for the latest SF Panorama issue.
A big thanks to Sasha at Meatpaper for the recommendation!

Martha Stewart Holiday Craft Sale Saturday

Here are just some of the gorgeous items Morgan will be selling on Saturday. The linen notebooks were a collaboration between the two of us. I will also be selling my wooden flowers and feathers, acorn ornaments, and prints!

Not many people can play around with mixed medium successfully... but I love these. Some almost look like distorted muscular system diagrams. So eerie.

Elie Nadelman

While working on an upcoming illustration, I had to find reference for a dead stag. I could recall an elegant sculpture I had seen years before in perfect detail, except for the name of the sculptor. After plowing through plenty of gore, I found Elie Nadelman's sculpture, Wounded Stag.

Nadelman's sculptures are so perfectly realized. They hit on that elusive and desirable spot between Brancusi sophistication and folk whimsy. Every piece is an easy favorite!

Meatpaper illustration

I had the pleasure of making a new illustration for this issue of Meatpaper Magazine. The article followed elementary school students in an experiment with local grass fed beef vs. the USDA patty. The whole magazine is as interesting as it is well designed, as always. Be sure to take a look!

I can't believe I haven't posted about these yet. These were what inspired me to experiment with applique and embroidery back in college. Sadly, I still don't have the book but thank goodness for google searches! Aren't the palettes incredible?

Awesome, awesome goodies from Ilana!

An original ByIlana shirt- check out the little bronze faceted buttons!
(p.s. she takes commissions)
